just six months after the Westgate Mall attack inNairobi, Kenya, explosions rocked the capital city on Monday killing at least five people and critically injured nine others, according to the national Disaster Operations Centre.
The attack in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area, sometimes called “Little Mogadishu”, might have involved twin blasts, the country’s police commander Benson Kibui told Reuters news agency.
An Associated Press reporter at the scene said at 7:30pm local time said there were two blasts about 200 metres apart. One of them caused the first floor walls of a restaurant to collapse and appeared to be caused by a device larger than a grenade.
“Police are securing the area for emergency response services,” the disaster organisation said on its official Twitter account.
Ambulances and private cars ferried the injured to hospital, a witness told Reuters.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. In the past, such attacks in the area that is popular with Somalis have been blamed on Somalia’s al-Shabab armed group.
Monday’s blasts came a day after a man suspected of assembling a bomb was killed when it went off where he lived near Eastleigh, Kenyan newspapers reported.
The Standard newspaper, which cited police and witnesses, said three men who lived with the victim fled in a car shortly after Sunday’s blast.

University Students Stage Mass Protest In Abuja, READ What They Are Complaining Of
Thousands of students of the University of Abuja protested on major roads of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja on Monday.
According to reports, the students are protesting over lack power and water supply to the permanent campus site of the university.
It was gathered that no fewer than 1,000 students gathered on the campus about 8am on Monday and barricaded road leading to the Senate building and classes.
Some of the students told newsmen that the protest became necessary because the school authorities had not provided power and water at the campus for three months running.
Mr Mike Ajeoja, a Theatre student, said those of them living in hostel at the permanent site had no power and water for the past three months.
Ajeoja said they had drawn the attention of the school management to their plight, but nothing had been done to address the situation.
"We are left with no choice then to come out and tell the world our problems.
"We will not stop the protest unless our problems are solved," he said.
A female student, who pleaded for anonymity, she stated that she had not had her bath for some days as a result of lack of water.
According to her, some of students use sachet water to bath, cook and even wash clothes.
"We are tired of staying without water and light. We wear squeezed clothes to the classes and we do not want such situation to continue," she added.
The Information Officer of the school, Mr Waziri Garba, confirmed the situation when contacted on telephone.

Pep: United demise not Fergie's fault
Pep Guardiola has mounted a staunch defence of Sir Alex Ferguson by insisting it is completely unfair to blame him for Manchester United’s decline this season.
The Spaniard, who joked he does not know if he was offered the job of replacing the Scot at Old Trafford, said Ferguson cannot be held responsible for his successor David Moyes’ troubles.
The Bayern Munich coach said he sympathised with the struggling Moyes but insisted that managers of major clubs are expected to win trophies.
Ferguson has been criticised as United, who won 13 Premier League titles in 21 seasons, have slipped to seventh place this year but Guardiola said it is inconceivable that their slump is the 72-year-old’s fault and believes he should be celebrated, not castigated.
Guardiola said: “Sometimes many, many things happen that are difficult to understand. I don't know how Sir Alex Ferguson can have a bad influence on this club. I think it's completely the opposite.
“This club was the best club in England thanks to him. He re-organised the club and put the club on another level in this country. Before it was Liverpool. I'm happy Liverpool are coming back because they are playing awesome and they deserve to be there.
“It's good for the Champions League next season. But I am pretty sure Alex Ferguson was the most important person in this club's history, at least in the last half-century."
And Guardiola, who met Ferguson in a New York restaurant in 2012 as the Spaniard was in negotiations with Bayern, said he was unsure if he could have had the job Moyes eventually filled.
He said: “My English is not so good so when Sir Alex spoke quickly I didn’t understand him. So maybe I didn’t understand if I received an offer or not. It was a friendly dinner, like always he has with me. He was so gentle and we spent a very good time together.”
Unless Moyes wins the Champions League, he will end his first season at United without a trophy and former Barcelona boss Guardiola believes managers of Europe’s elite clubs are always under pressure to secure silverware.
He said: “In the big clubs when you don’t win, always you are in trouble. In the big clubs that happens, it happens in Bayern Munich. Last year, they won everything and we try to maintain that level and we did it at least in the local competition [the Bundesliga]. Here, in Spain, in Italy, you have to win in the big clubs.”
However, Guardiola claimed United made the right decision in appointing Moyes and suggested he should be shown patience after a difficult year.
He explained: “When Manchester United decided to take David Moyes it is because they are able to do it. Sometimes you need a little more time. The decisions of Manchester United are always right. They know he is a good coach and did a good job at Everton.”

Gay couples say 'I do' in England and Wales
Andrew Wale is a writer and actor. His partner, Neil Allard, is a guesthouse owner. Together, they helped make history.
After the clock struck midnight on Friday, the couple were among the first men marrying men and women marrying women in a range of ceremonies across England and Wales as a historic law legalizing same-sex marriage finally comes into force.
Wale and Allard have long known they wanted to commit officially and have waited five years for gay and lesbian couples to be able exchange vows legally in their home country.
That day has finally come.
"When we were born, it was illegal to be gay, let alone get married," Wale, 49, said during last-minute preparations ahead of the wedding. "I didn't think about the possibility for most of my life. It is only really recently that suddenly the option seemed to be on its way."
Wearing velvet-collared three-piece suits with white flowers in their buttonholes, the smiling couple of seven years hugged and kissed after they became "husband and husband".
The marriage law was the final victory in a long battle that has secured the same age of consent as heterosexuals and the right to adopt. England and Wales are among 15 countries as well as parts of the United States and Mexico that allow same-sex marriage. The Netherlands was the first in 2001, and last year Brazil, Uruguay, New Zealand and France also joined the list.
The opulent splendor of the Royal Pavilion in the English city of Brighton provided the backdrop to Wale's and Allard's marriage. Theirs was the first same-sex wedding in a city that celebrates gay pride every year and is proud of its history of inclusion.
As the winners of a competition by the local council to find the right couple for the historic occasion, they exchanged vows shortly after midnight beneath the nine lotus-shaped chandeliers hung from the gilded cockleshell domed ceiling of the music room, where King George IV's guests were once entertained with Handel or Italian opera

New Michael Jackson album coming in May
Eight previously unheard Michael Jackson songs will be released on a new album in May, Epic Records announced Monday.
The late pop icon's music has been "contemporized" by several producers who Epic Chairman L.A. Reid believes have the "gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with Jackson's work," the announcement said.
Fans can preorder the new album, titled "Xscape," on iTunes starting Tuesday, but it will be in stores around the world on May 13, the company said.
Jackson died at age 50 on June 25, 2009, while preparing for his "This Is It" comeback tour.
"Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with," Reid said.
Timbaland is the lead producer, with contributions from Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon and Jackson estate executor John McClain, the release said. Timberland had previously revealed he was working on the project for Epic.
The album title is derived from one of the new singles. Jackson and Jerkins co-wrote and co-produced the song "Xscape," which Jerkins "contemporized" for the project, the company said.
Sony's Columbia Epic Records -- Jackson's record label for three decades -- signed a long-term deal with Jackson's estate to posthumously release music from the large archives of his recordings.
Reid "was granted unlimited access to the treasures representing four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals," the announcement said.
The Epic release included a quote from Jackson estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain supporting the new album. "Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."

21 Boko Haram detainees die in failed jailbreak
TWENTY-ONE Boko Haram detainees died yesterday during an attempted jailbreak at the detention facility of the State Security Service (SSS) headquarters in Abuja.
There was panic in the city after sporadic shootings shattered the Sunday morning serenity of Asokoro – home of the rich and powerful, including the Presidential Villa.
The SSS cleared the air when it announced that there had been an attempted jailbreak.
The detainee, who coordinated the failed jailbreak, died in the commotion. Some Boko Haram suspects and three SSS operatives were injured.
The SSS said 18 of the detainees were killed during the attempted jailbreak. Three, who were injured, died in the hospital.
The service also said two of its operatives were seriously injured.
The SSS gave the breakdown in a statement by its Deputy Director, Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar.
The statement said: “Following our earlier releases, it has been established that eighteen (18) casualties were recorded, while two (2) Service personnel sustained serious injuries.
“Three (3) other detainees who sustained gun shot injuries during the incident have also died.
“Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing to ascertain the immediate and remote causes. Any other detail will be communicated.”
A source, who spoke in confidence, explained how it all happened. He said: “When the detainees were to be served breakfast, the coordinator of the jailbreak broke his manacles and seized a gun from one of the operatives to liberate his colleagues.
“He shot sporadically and sprayed the facility at random, leading to the killing of some of his colleagues. In fact, the coordinator killed most of his colleagues. About 21 Boko Haram detainees died in the ensuing melee.
“Many other detainees and three SSS operatives were injured. But due to reinforcement, none of the detainees was able to escape.”
Responding to a question, the source said: “The coordinator of the jailbreak lost his life too during encounters with security operatives.
“Apart from mopping up the detention facility, security has also been strengthened based on the order of the Director-General of SSS, Mr. Ekpenyong Ita.”
The SSS Deputy Director, Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar said the jailbreak occurred during the breakfast session for the detainees.
She issued two statements. The first said: At 0715 hours, the Service suspect handler went to the detention facility within the headquarters to feed the suspects.
“One of the suspects attempted to disarm him by hitting him at the back of his head with his handcuff.
“His attempt to escape drew the attention of other guards at the facility who fired some shots to warn and deter others.
“The gun shots attracted the attention of the military with whom we have an understanding of mutual assistance in the event of any threat.
“The Army immediately deployed a team to reinforce our perimeter guards to forestall any external collaborators. The situation has since been brought under control. Further details will be communicated.”
The second statement said: “Further to my earlier statement, we wish to state that the roads leading to the office were cordoned off to prevent possible assistance from external collaborators.
“During this period, the precinct of the office and adjoining neighborhoods were thoroughly searched. Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to the area as the roads have been opened for free movement of persons and vehicles
“We wish to restate our commitment to the safety of the people and the Nigerian nation at large.
“Any other detail will be communicated.”
Heavy security had been built around the Presidential Villa and the Federal Capital Territory by soldiers with military helicopters deployed in the area.
There was suspicion that the jailbreak might be a prelude to a major attack on the Villa and Abuja.
A source said: “All military formations and security agencies have been put on the alert to ward off any aggression by the sect.
“The Villa is being heavily protected as I speak with you only to guard against any spill over. But the Villa is not under threat in any manner.”
As at 5pm, normal traffic had been restored to the SSS headquarters motorway and Villa precincts although some soldiers were still sighted around the area.
The SSS launched a probe into the incident to determine whether there was sabotage or not.
Another source added: “The internal probe has started to ascertain if there was any culpability by anybody or group. This will involve grilling of surviving Boko Haram
“We are also trying to determine the real motives of Boko Haram behind the jailbreak.
“We will get to the roots as soon as possible and whoever is involved will be dealt with
Champions League: Beckham Predicts Winner Between Chelsea And PSG
Barely 48 hours before Chelsea confront PSG in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final match, former England winger, David Beckham has predicted who would win the tie.
Beckham, who used to play for the French side, believes former club Paris Saint Germain would spring a shock and knock Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea out of the Champions League.
The retired midfielder spent the final six months of his career in the French capital, and reckons the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva can inspire the Ligue 1 champions to victory over the Blues in Wednesday’s quarter final.
He said: “Every time people mention PSG to me, I smile because I had six months of pleasure there with the players I was playing with, with the fans, the club – it’s such a great club.
“I was welcomed by the club with open arms, it was an incredible six months. The position they’re in, they’ve got such a strong unit, with strong players.
“The owners that run the club, they want to best and they’ve got the best. Thiago Silva, for instance, is the best defender in the world.
”Zlatan is a character but he’s also one of the best players I’ve played with. He’s a great man. He’s a player that I loved playing with.
“I think they’ve got a real chance in the Champions League this year. They’re coming up against a Chelsea team, with Jose Mourinho as manager, he takes the team to a different level but I do think that they (Chelsea) have a good chance.”

Bayern have weaknesses – Moyes
Bayern Munich do have weaknesses, ones that Manchester United manager David Moyes says his side will target on Tuesday.
United host Bayern in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, but know they are in for a tough task.
The Bavarian giants have not lost in the league this season, culminating in their 24th German title, sealed in Berlin on Tuesday.
The defending European champions last lost a game in December – but according to Moyes, who is well aware of Bayern’s quality – they do have weak areas.
Moyes told United’s official website: “When we drew them, I felt we’d drawn probably the best team in Europe at this present time.
“I think most people would agree with that…Munich are a little bit of a class above the other teams, including Borussia Dortmund.
“We have got a really tough game and know exactly what we are going to get but we’ll try to exploit little bits of weaknesses they have got.”
Bayern have only got stronger under new coach Pep Guardiola this season, with the team’s style of play evolving significantly.
Guardiola’s men, who enjoy large spells of possession and control, had more than 1,000 passes in the 3-1 win at Hertha Berlin that sealed their latest Bundesliga title.
Moyes feels that the Spaniard has benefited greatly from an extended break before taking the Bayern job.
“Pep has taken over a really good team and added a bit himself with his own style. They have already won the Bundesliga quite comfortably so the focus is on the Champions League now,” he added.
“It’s been different (for Guardiola). I am sure he had done a lot of homework and had a year’s preparation before taking the job in Munich.
“He learnt German, watched the games and learned a lot about the players.
Airtel, Thuraya partner to offer satellite services to Africans
Airtel International and Thuraya Telecommunications Company on Monday entered into an agreement to provide Airtel’s African customers with mobile satellite products and services in 17 countries.
The Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Africa, Mr. Christian De Faria, said this in a statement in Lagos.
He noted that providing reliable connectivity in many remote parts of Africa could be challenging.
De Faria said that extending mobile networks into remote or rural areas presented both geographical obstacles and business challenges for connecting people in Africa.
He said Thuraya’s satellite network would bridge the digital divide by providing an immediate and cost-effective way for Airtel to extend its coverage, while generating revenue and providing connectivity.
“This partnership enables us to further extend our coverage and services for businesses and general consumers who live or work in very remote areas.
“Thuraya’s satellite services will be combined with the reliable, high-quality voice calls and broadband access that our customers are accustomed to experiencing in our urban centres,’’ he said.
The CEO said that the partnership would provide Airtel customers voice and broadband connectivity via Thuraya’s satellite network across the continent’s most remote areas.
He said that from May, Airtel would sell Thuraya’s products and airtime packages at their retail outlets and through their enterprise account team.
De Faria said that the mobile satellite service would address the diverse voice and data communication needs of Airtel enterprise users across the mining, energy, media, government and humanitarian sectors.
The Chief Executive Officer of Thuraya, Mr Samer Halawi, said that the partnership was a very positive development in bridging the digital divide in Africa.
Halawi said that Thuraya understood the massive impact that access to reliable communications could have in the lives of ordinary people.
He said that the company was well-positioned to support customer-centric mobile operators like Airtel Africa that were looking to extend their network and services with satellite-based solution
Osaze: I’m in the form of my life
Hero Osaze Odenwingie praised the team’s work ethic in their hard-fought 1-0 Premier League victory over Hull City.. He added that he was happy to be in the form of his life going into the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
“Today was one of those difficult days,” Peter admitted to Stoke City Player following the match.
“I honestly don’t know how I found enough energy to finish the game today!” he added.
“I lacked a bit of energy throughout because of the way they play with wingbacks meaning as wingers we had to go really deep to help stop them attacking.
“But after the break we allowed the full backs to pick them up a bit more and then myself and Marko [Arnautovic] had a few more chances so we’re very pleased with that Then I got in the position for the goal, took the shot and was very pleased that it went in.
“When I scored I knew that would be a turning point for the game.”
The 32-year-old also responded to recent media reports of a possible return to the international scene ahead of Nigeria’s appearance in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
“I’ve been in touch with the manager and the Federation as well,” he stated.
“It’s looking positive now and we’re mending bridges. I’m happy that I am doing well and feel that I am in the form of my life.
“If I can help the team it’s never a question of me not being there; I’m always available so we’ll see what happens.”

Sir Alex Ferguson Celebrates At Wembley Again
Former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson was given another opportunity to celebrate at the famous Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Sir Alex's son, Darren Ferguson gave his dad something to celebrate as Peterborough won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The ex-Manchester United boss took a break from watching his former team's struggles at Old Trafford with a trip to Wembley.
And he got the chance to see a team lift some silverware this season after son Darren's Posh beat Chesterfield 3-1.
Ferguson junior, who once told his father to stay away from Peterborough matches as they always seemed to lose when he watched them, said: 'My mum is a lucky omen for me!
'He's not see us win for a while, but then a few people who could say that this season.
'It's important that all my family are here, my wife and children are here. It's a good day for the family.'
First-half strikes from Josh McQuoid and Shaun Brisley - both players' first goals for the club - put Posh in the driving seat.
Yet plucky Chesterfield hit back after half-time through Eoin Doyle and must have fancied their chances when Joe Newell was needlessly sent off for kicking out at Sam Morsy.
But Posh clinched victory in the 76th minute when Liam Cooper tripped Mark Little in the area and Britt Assombalonga tucked in the penalty.
The young Ferguson, who also won the JPT as a player, now has his sights set on a return to Wembley for the play-off final in May as Posh bid to bounce back into the Championship
Sir Alex's son, Darren Ferguson gave his dad something to celebrate as Peterborough won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The ex-Manchester United boss took a break from watching his former team's struggles at Old Trafford with a trip to Wembley.

Ekiti State Police Capture Suspected Murderers, Armed Robbers, Cultists
Eight suspected criminals were arrested by the Ekiti State police command, including one Onibile Kolawole who attempted to assassinate the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Mr. Bunmi Ajimoko.
Parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Felix Uyanna, said two of the suspects, Olajuwon Adebanjo, 22, a 200 level Philosophy student, and Dapo Oduwole, a 300 level Mechanical Engineering, are both students of the Ekiti State University and were arrested for alleged armed robbery/cult-related activities.
The CP said the suspects were arrested on March 23 around 4pm following a distress call by some students that they were being robbed of their valuables.
Another suspect, Akintunde Ayoola, who the police described as "unrepentant cultist and suspected murderer" was arrested on March 14 in connection with the murder of one Ayodeji Olaseinde following a cult clash between two cult groups - 'Eiye' and a rival group 'Axemen' confranternities on January 16.
The CP also paraded one Famuyide Oluwafemi, also a 300 level Mechanical Engineering student of EKSU for allegedly being in possession of a toy gun and one expended ammunition at the venue of the Thursday's mega rally organised by Governor Kayode Fayemi to flag off campaign for his second term in office.
The police boss said the suspected assassin had placed an annonymous call to Mr Ajimoko, demanding the sum of N150,000 to be paid into a specified account, or he would be killed.
The police boss explained: "The suspect claimed that he was contacted by some persons to kill the victim, but for his benevolence to him in time past, he decided to spare his life if he paid the sum of money requested for."
According to him, the suspected assassin was trapped on March 19 at a first generation bank in Ado Ekiti while withdrawing the sum paid into his account by the victim.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect has several bank accounts opened with different names," the CP added.
During the parade, several ammunitions, charms, raps of different sizes of indian hemp allegedly used by the suspects were displayed.
The CP assured that the cases would be thoroughly investigated after which those found culpable would be prosecuted. He warned youths not to allow themselves to be used for criminal activities, especially during electioneering campaign ahead of the June 21 governorship election

PDP Accuse APC Of Blackmail, Falsehood, Insulting President Jonathan
National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party Chief Olisa Metuh has signed a press release by his party. In it, the PDP accuse their political rivals, the All Progressives Congress, of blackmail and falsehood against them, as well as attacking and insulting President Goodluck Jonathan.
We have observed the ill-conceived and wicked offensive deployed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, wherein it has now resorted to attacking the personality of individuals and institutions of government using a section of the media.
In the last few days, the media have been awash with paid write-ups and advertorials by the APC using resources meant for the development of their states to castigate, discredit and ridicule Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, officials and other well-meaning individuals in the country.
It is rather despicable that instead of coming out with tangible explanations that would delink it from the negatives for which Nigerians have rejected it, the APC, now haunted by its ugly shadow, has resorted to yet another diversionary tactics of propaganda, blackmail and falsehood, this time, using paid consultants masquerading as newspaper columnists to attack and insult individuals including the person of President Goodluck Jonathan.
We, however, wish to restate that the PDP is not perturbed by these attacks and they cannot deter us from exposing the APC. We completely stand by our position that the APC is a party of unpatriotic persons whose agenda is to destroy our democracy and the unity we enjoy as a nation.
This wave of attack is clearly part of APC's "Janjaweed" ideology of destruction and inciting the people against individuals, especially government officials, in furtherance of the plot to undermine the system and balkanize the nation along ethnic and religious lines ahead of the 2015 general elections; an agenda which has already failed.
We are aware that the APC has engaged the services of foreigners who have since been imported into the country to do the hatchet job in collaboration with the paid consultants who pocket as much as N5 million naira for each negative publication.
We are however aware of failed efforts by the APC to compromise credible Nigerian columnists and bloggers, who, for the love of our dear country and fear of God, refused to be made agents of destabilisation.
Nigerians must insist that the APC declares the source of the billions of naira with which it is sponsoring the negative publications. We must ensure that the funds are not coming from the resources meant for the development of their states where the people are already subjected to untold hardship on account of the looting and heavy taxes by the APC.
As an ill-bred party, it is not surprising that the APC has continued to exhibit crass hatred for the President even to the extent of unleashing their thugs to attack innocent citizens for the singular reason of being in possession of posters of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Nigerians are now aware that the APC is a party of hypocrites; of wolves in messianic robes seeking to deceive with the promise of change. We wish to state categorically that the APC as presently constituted has nothing to offer. It is not an alternative to the PDP neither is it an option to Nigerians. Its orchestrated mantra of change remains cosmetic, hypocritical and hollow, unless we now speak of change from democracy to dictatorship.
By every indication, the APC is a rudderless ship heading for crisis and self-destruction. We want Nigerians to note that whilst the leaders of the APC have continued to focus on attacking people and causing confusion, the PDP has focused on sensitising the people as well as strengthening and expanding its support base.
Whilst the APC leaders have relegated their duty of organising their party ahead of elections and remain fixated on mischief, PDP leaders are working hard to organise our members in all the states, local government and wards of the country for a successful outing in 2015.
Nigerians must note that as we march towards the general elections, the APC has no single democratic structure on the ground. It still lacks genuine followership and has no defined presence at the grassroot. On the other hand, the PDP remains the party with the largest number of members and supporters and shall continue to be committed to the national interest for the good of all.
We wish to remind the APC that he who fails to work, works to fail. This is the ultimate fate that awaits them in 2015 and they should have nobody but themselves to blame. Of course, as bad losers, the only plan the APC has perfected is to incite the people and unleash mayhem in furtherance of its greater plot to truncate our democracy by reenacting the ugly experience of December 1983. This agenda has also failed as Nigerians are no longer in the dark regarding who the true enemies of our dear country are

Bank Staff Mistakenly Credits Teenager's Account with N5million!
This particular story actually happened recently in Greece. But read and let's know if you think the young customer is liable?
A bank teller's error made an 18 year old Athens teenager $31,000 (N5million) richer, according to a report on Onlineathens.com. The error occurred on March 7, when a man walked into the First Citizens Bank on U.S. Highway 29 in Athens and made a $31,000 deposit.
Several customers at the bank have the same name as the man, so the teller mistakenly put the deposit into the wrong account.
On March 17, the customer called the bank to report money missing from his account. Bank officials investigated the customer's report and discovered the teller's error.
But by that time, the 18-year-old had withdrawn $20,000 (N3million) from his bank account and spent $5,000 more on purchases made with his ATM card. When the teen went into the branch to withdraw more money, a teller informed him the money was a mistake and asked him to return the cash.
According to a sheriff's report, the teenager insisted the money was an inheritance from his grandmother's estate. When sheriff's deputies went to the teen's house to question him about the money, he again insisted the money came from his grandmother.
But after the deputies explained how much jail time he was facing, the teen told them he would make arrangements with the bank to return the money. However, bank officials said the teen never returned to the bank, that they plan to press charges if the money isn't returned

Mother Kills 4 Year Old Son Because She Thought He Was Gay
An Oregon mother is facing murder charges after allegedly subjecting her 4-year-old son to deadly beatings because she thought he was gay.
As the Associated Press is reporting, Jessica Dutro, 25, has been charged with murder, murder by abuse and second-degree assault in connection with the 2012 death of her son, Zachary Dutro-Boggess.
Prosecutors say Zachary died on Aug. 16, 2012 of blunt-force trauma to his abdomen and a delay in medical treatment, according to reports.
Dutro, who is on trial in Washington County Circuit Court, allegedly pointed to her perception of her young son's sexuality in a Facebook message addressed to her boyfriend, Brian Canady, at the time.
Using a slur, she wrote that she believed Zachary was going to be gay, and suggested Canady, 24, "work on" her son: "He walks and talks like it. Ugh."
Earlier this month, Canady pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, and second-degree assault, in connection with Zachary's death, The Oregonian previously reported. At the time of his arrest in 2012, Canady admitted to kicking Zachary in the abdomen while wearing shoes, according to The Portland Tribune.
Dutro's 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son are also said to have shown signs of physical abuse, according to The Oregonian. Still, her attorney Chris Colburn has argued that while his client was an "unusual" parent, she is not guilty of murder.
The case follows that of James Larry Cosby, a Texas father who has been charged with two counts of tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his daughter, Britney Cosby, and her girlfriend Crystal Jackson, both 24, according to KHOU. He is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail on a total of $500,000.00 bonds

Gullit claims Van Gaal set for Spurs job
Louis van Gaal’s move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer appears to be “a done deal,” former Netherlands captain Ruud Gullit has told the BBC.
• Crace: Chance to finish on a high
Van Gaal will be replaced by Guus Hiddink as Netherlands coach after this summer’s World Cup finals, and the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has already indicated that he hopes to take a job in the Premier League.
The 62-year-old has been most strongly linked with the Spurs job, and ex-Chelsea boss Gullit told BBC 5 Live: “I know for sure the chairman of Tottenham [Daniel Levy] was at Van Gaal’s house. I think it's a done deal, but you never know.”
Spurs had appointed Tim Sherwood on an 18-month deal in December following the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas but it appears his time in charge may be drawing to a close.
In an interview with The Independent, Sherwood said he accepted that he may soon be replaced but warned that the names touted as potential successors -- also including Ajax’s Frank De Boer and Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino -- could struggle.
“He [Levy] wants the club to do well,” he said. “He really, really does. He cares for the club, and I believe he wants me to do well. I would like it [the contract] to be 10 years but I am realistic enough to know this is a dress rehearsal. I am untried.
“What I would say is there is no guarantee [about the alternatives]. Someone could win 19 trophies elsewhere and they might not fit at Tottenham. The club has to fit the manager and you don’t know until you bring them in. But they have a better idea with me than with anyone else.”
Sherwood indicated that he would like to be given the chance to make changes to the squad he had inherited, which including a host of summer signings brought in after the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
“They are all internationals, but it is like fixing a washing machine with someone else’s tool bag,” he said. “Sometimes you might not have the right bit in there.”
Sherwood did some work as a TV pundit before he became Spurs head coach and, while some of the criticism of him has been stinging in his brief stint as a Premier League manager, he accepts such abuse is all part of the job.
“A lot of them [media pundits] are ex-players and they can comment on players,” he added. “What a lot of them have never been is a manager. I used to comment on managers all the time: ‘He has done this wrong, etc.’ Until you have been there, it is impossible to know what it is like to carry the expectancy of the whole club.
“The spotlight is on you and you have to deliver. I love it. It is a challenge. I always say my life would be a lot easier if I weren’t a manager. That’s why it is good, I don’t have to do it. I want to put myself through it and that is why I respect a lot of managers. Harry [Redknapp] is still cracking on doing it. Why? It’s something in us all, to want the next challenge.”
His public criticism of his players following their 4-0 defeat at Chelsea earlier this month also raised questions as to whether he was the right man for the job, but he said: “What people have to worry about is if I stop shouting at them -- because I have given up on them. I think you get more impact when you praise them from the contrast.
“I would never criticise anyone for playing badly. I don’t think that’s right. That reason for doing it at Chelsea was it had happened under Andre too. You cannot capitulate like that. Something is not right. The response has been good.”

‘Jonathan Explodes! ‘Blame northern govs, not me for Boko Haram!’
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan yesterday took a swipe at governors for accusing the Federal Government of bad leadership, asking them to stop pushing blames when they have failed on their part to provide primary and secondary education for their citizens.
Speaking in Bauchi during the North-east Zonal Rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jonathan also lampooned some northern governors over insurgency in their states which he blamed on lack of education for the children and employment consequent upon which they are ready tools for terrorists.
President Goodluck Jonathan
Jonathan, who charged the governors to take charge and stop blaming their inept leadership on the Federal Government, however asked if the federal government, constitutionally responsible for the provision of tertiary education, should be in charge of primary and secondary education at the state level.
He said, “ Sometimes governors will come and say we have some issues because of bad leadership. I was governor, deputy governor before I became a governor. I spent eight years at the state level, I handled security challenges. That was the state where the first commercial kidnapping took place because of excess militancy.
More than 70 % of the state is swamp. I knew how we handled things. A governor will come and say bad leadership, bad leadership from whom? If we have security challenges, whether you call them Boko Haram or whatever, these are people who couldn’t go to primary school, who couldn’t go to secondary school and they have no hope and miscreants or criminals now recruit them and using them; if you see what they wear, they wear rags and not normal clothes; all what they put on their bodies is not worth N10, but they carry rifles and bullets that are worth more that N250, 000. Somebody gives them food to eat so that they can kill.
”You ask how did we build this army of unemployed or unemployable youth? The Federal Government does not control primary education; it does not control secondary education, and a governor has been on seat for almost eight years and we have people in that state that can’t go to primary school, that can’t go to secondary school. You say bad leadership, who is the bad leader? Is it the Federal Government? I made sure that every state has a university. That is the responsibility of the Federal Government and I have done it.
Governors must make sure that our children go to primary school, governors must make sure that our children go to secondary school. Somebody hide under the cover of politics and cannot do it in eight years or seven years plus. We still have do many children in your state that cannot go to primary school, not going to secondary school and you open your mouth to say bad leadership; is it the Federal Government or Mr. President that should come and take your children to primary schools? Federal Government by the constitution faces tertiary education. “
Earlier in his remarks, PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, who reiterated that aspirants must go to their wards, local governments and states to convince the people to vote for them, disclosed that all congresses in the 36 states and Abuja would be televised life for people to watch.
In his remarks, Vice President Namadi Sambo disclosed that all closed schools in the zone would be re- opened soon.
Also in his remarks, Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, BoT, Chief Tony Anenih, who noted that the Jonathan-led administration has done much for the North-east, said that one good turn must deserve another when the time comes.

Three army die in Lebanese suicide car bomb
A suicide bomber killed himself and three soldiers when he detonated a car bomb at a Lebanese army checkpoint in the border town of Arsal, a security official said.
The Lebanese army said in a statement that four other soldiers were wounded in Saturday’s attack on the checkpoint at Aqabet al-Jurd in the Arsal area.
The attack was claimed on Twitter by a group calling itself Liwa Ahrar al-Sunna in Baalbek, Arabic for the Brigades of the free Sunni Muslims.
It said the attack was to avenge the death of Sami al-Atrash, a suspect wanted in connection with car bombings targeting Lebanon’s Shia armed group Hezbollah.
Atrash was killed on Thursday in a shoot-out with the army.
The army had described Atrash as a “dangerous terrorist” who was tracked down to a hideout in Arsal, where he was killed.
Woman and child killed
Later on Saturday a woman and a child were killed when soldiers opened fire on their car after it failed to stop at another checkpoint at the entrance to Arsal town, an army spokesman said.
The bodies were brought to a makeshift hospital in Arsal, Lebanon’s national news agency reported, adding that the male driver of the car was in serious condition.
Arsal is home to thousands of Syrian refugees but also Syrian rebels and their Lebanese allies who have fled a Syrian army advance on the Syrian side of the border.
Lebanese Sunni fighters accuse the Lebanese army of conspiring with forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and the Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah, which has sent fighters into Syria to support Assad fight a Sunni-led revolt.
The attack hit just hours after a speech by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who said he was protecting Lebanon by fighting in Syria against Sunni fighters.
On Thursday, the Lebanese army killed a suspected Sunni bomb-maker as they raided his house in Arsal.
On Saturday, the army made further raids in Arsal, where they have set up checkpoints this month.
Lebanon has endured rocket and bomb attacks as the Syrian conflict spreads beyond its border, deepening sectarian rivalry in the country, which suffered its own civil war from 1975 to 1990
40 Stalls Burnt In Abuja Market
No fewer than 40 stalls were burnt in a fire outbreak at the Garki Model Market in Abuja on Saturday morning before it was put out.
Mr Ibrahim Yahaya-Joe, the Manager, Abuja Market Management Limited (AMML), said, that the fire started at about 6.02 a.m.
Yahaya-Joe said he received a phone call and was informed that the fire started from a cold-room store before spreading to other parts.
“I received a distress call at exactly 6.02 this morning that there was fire outbreak in one of the shops with a big refrigerator and gas cylinders.
“We used fire extinguishers as an interim measure to curb the outbreak before the arrival of the fire service personnel.
“The fire fighters came from the State House, the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service.’’
He said there were also other cold rooms and cylinders around the area which aggravated the fire’’, he said.
Yahaya-Joe commended the men of the fire services for their prompt response to stop the fire.
He added that the market management would quantify the losses and guard against future occurrence.
He advised traders to discard combustible materials, gas cylinders and other inflammable materials in their shops to avoid fire outbreak.
Yahaya-Jo suggested that traders should keep fire extinguishers in their shops to help future fire fighting operations.
He explained that traders were prevented from entering the market while the fire raged in a bid to prevent hoodlums from carting away valuables.
Mr Ime Eyo, Operational Commander, Federal Fire Service, Abuja, told NAN that the fire fighters arrived at the scene at 6.13a.m to put out the fire.
Eyo said the fire was caused by a power surge, adding that about three blocks of shops were affected in the incident.
He said although there were no casualties, property worth millions of naira were lost to the fire. [NAN

Same-s*x Marriages Hold In UK As Law Comes Into Effect
British Prime Minister David Cameron hailed the first same-s*x marriages in England and Wales as sending a “powerful message” about equality on Saturday.
The law changed after midnight on Saturday, with a number of gay couples vying to claim the title of being the first to be married in Britain which would go to the couple to first say “I do”.
Cameron said the reform was necessary because “when people’s love is divided by law, it is that law that needs to change”.
“This weekend is an important moment for our country” because “we will at last have equal marriage in our country,” he wrote in the gay news service, Pink News.
“This is something that has been very important to me,” said Mr Cameron, who has faced opposition from some in the Conservative Party about his backing for the law.
The prime minister said he had been extremely lucky “the most incredible lifelong partner” in his wife Samantha.
“Of course any marriage takes work, requires patience and understanding, give and take – but what it gives back in terms of love, support, stability and happiness is immeasurable.
“That is not something that the state should ever deny someone on the basis of their s*xuality. When people’s love is divided by law, it is the law that needs to change.
Meanwhile gay couples across England and Wales wasted no time in tying the nuptial knot as the law authorising same-s*x marriage came into effect.
While 15 countries have legalised gay marriage and another three allow it in some areas, homos*xuality remains unacceptable in many parts of the world, especially Africa.
The Church of England, insisting weddings should take place only between a man and a woman, secured an exemption from the new law.
But Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the leader of the world’s 80 million Anglicans, said the Church had accepted the new law and would continue to demonstrate “the love of Christ for every human being”

Ekiti 2014: Fayose says he brought Fayemi and will remove him
AHEAD of June 21 Ekiti State gubernatorial election, the National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday presented former governor of the state, Chief Ayo Fayose with the Certificate of Return as the party’s Standard bearer, just as he declared that twelve years after as governor, he has become wiser, more responsible and disciplined now.
Fayose also disclosed that he had told President Goodluck Jonathan never to consider him or any member of his family for federal appointment should he fail to wrest power from the incumbent governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, at the June 21 guber poll and remove him.
*Ayo Fayose
The PDP candidate for the Ekiti State election who stormed the Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat to collect the certificate from PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu also boasted that with his emergence, the incumbent governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi will shed tears, adding he brought him and he would remove him as governor come June 21, adding that as a political lion, who has lived all his life in the trenches, his emergence was a threat to Governor Fayemi.
Fayose, who defeated thirteen other aspirants last Saturday to emerge the PDP flag-bearer, noted that he is optimstic he would defeat Fayemi because he knew how he became the state governor in the first place, adding, “I won’t look for government appointment because if they appoint you today, you may be removed tomorrow.
I won’t ask the Federal Government for appointment if I fail to win this election. Let the Federal Government not consider me or any member of my family if I fail to send Fayemi packing. I’m sending Fayemi back to where he came from and we shall take over the Government House.”
Fayose also appealed to all he might have wronged in the past to find a place in their hearts to forgive him even as he assured them that he had learnt his lessons having gone into political hibernation for 12 years.
He pleaded with the other 13 aspirants who contested with him for the governorship ticket to put whatever grievance they have behind and join hands with him to ensure that PDP wins the state.
According to him, there was the need for reconciliation, even as he promised that he will do their bidding and that he only needed the governorship and will not contend for other positions.
“The way forward is that other aspirants should support me and work with me. It is their right to be angry and if I had lost, I will also be angry because is not easy to lose N11 million,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Adamu Mua’zu, while handing over the Certificate of Return to Fayose, reminded him of the need to share positions among loyal party members to ensure equity and justice and cautioned aspirants on the platform of the party to work with the people at the grass root for their electoral victories instead of putting their hopes in their political god-fathers.
Mu’azu assured that his leadership would ensure reconciliation of the aggrieved members just as he expressed optimism that the PDP would take over Ekiti Government House after the June 12 governorship election, adding that there was no godfatherism in PDP

Moyes bailed after plane protest, beats Aston Villa 4-1
Wayne Rooney inspired Manchester United to come from behind and beat Aston Villa 4-1 on Saturday in a game marked by fresh protests against United manager David Moyes.
A small aeroplane towing an anti-Moyes banner flew over Old Trafford shortly after kick-off and the under-fire former Everton manager then saw his side fall behind to an Ashley Westwood free-kick.
However, Rooney scored twice before half-time, with Juan Mata and Javier Hernandez adding further goals as the under-performing champions provisionally moved to within nine points of the Premier League’s top four.
There were fewer than two minutes on the clock on a sunny afternoon in Manchester when the plane, chartered by a group of disgruntled fans, made its appearance, trailing a banner that read: ‘WRONG ONE – MOYES OUT’.
It was a response to the pro-Moyes ‘THE CHOSEN ONE’ banner that has adorned the Stretford End since the beginning of the season, but the man himself received a warm reception when he emerged before kick-off.
Applause turned to silence, though, in the 13th minute when Westwood curled a delicate free-kick over the United wall and inside the left-hand post to put Villa ahead.
Villa centre-back Ciaran Clark then put a free header over, but Rooney equalised in the 20th minute when he exploited slack marking to convert Shinji Kagawa’s left-wing cross with a deft glancing header.
The England striker completed the turnaround shortly before half-time, burying a penalty into the bottom-right corner after Mata had been cleaned out by Leandro Bacuna.
Villa striker Christian Benteke gave United two big scares early in the second half, miskicking right in front of goal and then heading just over, but Mata’s 57th-minute strike gave the hosts breathing space.
After Marouane Fellaini tried to bundle his way through in the Villa area, the ball popped out to Mata, who thrashed home right-footed to claim his first United goal since his club-record £37.1 million ($61.2 million, 44.8 million euros) move from Chelsea in January.
Substitute Hernandez made it 4-1 in injury time, touching home an Adnan Januzaj cross to complete an encouraging display ahead of United’s mid-week Champions League date with Bayern Munich.
Later on Saturday, leaders Chelsea can provisionally extend their advantage over second-place Liverpool to four points by winning at fourth-bottom Crystal Palace.
Third-place Manchester City will look to maintain the pressure on Jose Mourinho’s side when they travel to fourth-place Arsenal, who are in danger of being eliminated from the title race.
At the other end of the table, second-bottom Cardiff City visit fellow relegation contenders West Bromwich Albion hoping to bridge the three-point gap that separates them from the Midlands club.
Elsewhere, Swansea City host Norwich City, Hull City travel to Stoke City, and Southampton tackle Newcastle United

Read How Fraudsters Rob ATM Machine Via Text Messages
It been revealed that a particular brand of ATM machines can be hacked and robbed with ease without even touching or being close to the device.
The details ain’t as simple as it sounds but the ATM are actually Windows PCs need to be running on XP then it has to be infected with a trojan virus called Ploutus.
The fraudsters then have to access the computer (ATM) innards and install their malware and hook it up to a mobile phone via a USB port and then they have a full control of the machine
Then all they are now required to do is to send a message to the planted ATM phone, it then translates the text into a network packet and sends it to the ATM. Ploutus then transforms the packets into command-line instructions.
Symantec’s Daniel Regalado said: “It may seem incredible, but this technique is being used in a number of places across the world at this time,”
The setup could last for a very long time if not caught because the phone is plugged in and is constantly recharging and never runs out of power.
Ploutus apparently affects only a single brand of ATM, but Symantec has not released the brand name. It did note that the Trojan, originally written in Spanish, now has an English-language variant, suggesting that the criminals behind it might hope to expand their operation.
What is indisputable is that, as Regalado wrote, “cybercriminals are targeting ATMs with increasingly sophisticated techniques.” But that would be true no matter which operating system an ATM runs.
5 Mistakes Single People Make When Searching For Love!
Most single people are constantly on the search to get boo’d up or at least find someone special, but they tend to make a few mistakes on the way. Here’s a few to watch out for:
1. Allowing your friends to set you up with people that you know you’re not at all interested in, but you don’t say no to because you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. At a certain point, it just becomes a game of “You’re single??? I know a person who is also not currently in a relationship — you would be perfect for each other!”
2. Going back to an ex just to get the cuddles. Don’t let slip back into the quicksand of the easy cuddle.
3. Trying to construct a functional relationship out of someone who is clearly just looking for a little casual s*x. Pretending like the times you meet up at 11 PM to have s*x are “dates” and that they’re just “really busy with other things” is a one-way ticket to emotional eating while crying in your bed.
4. Focusing in way too hard on the “meet cute” aspect of finding someone, wherein you just happen to bump into one another at some bookstore while browsing the same section and get all charmingly befuddled trying to say excuse me. This also leads to trying to turn every brief moment of eye contact with a hot person on public transportation into the opening sequence of the movie that is your love life. (Full disclosure: I once stayed on the train to follow a guy I thought I was having A Moment with for about five stops too long, only for him to get off and completely walk in the other direction. Those are five stops I will never get back.)
5. Sleeping with members of your friend group in the interim, because you’re horny, but you also want to be with someone that you can just chill out and order a pizza with afterwards. This sounds like the ideal situation, right up until someone wants out, and now the two of you have to hang out at group functions and pretend you weren’t recently inside of one another
I bless babies before selling them – ‘Baby factory’ operator
Thirty nine-year-old Angela Chidozie, who was arrested last week Friday by men of the Ogun State Police Command at a house she allegedly used as a ‘baby factory’ in Akute area of the state, is currently cooling off at the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the command.
She was arrested with eight young girls who are in different stages of pregnancy.
The fair-complexioned lady told Saturday PUNCH that money was not the aim of operating the business.
Chidozie insisted that she was sure none of her patrons bought the babies for ritual purposes.
Asked how she was sure of that, she said, “I study those who come to buy babies from me. When I am sure that they actually want to buy because they are looking for the fruits of the womb, I sell the babies to them.
“It is my job now. I know how to test the women to see if they actually cannot have children. When I see people who come to me for children, I know if they want the babies for ritual purposes or not. I ensure the women come with their husbands. I don’t sell children to them if they don’t come with their spouses.
“It is not about the money. My concern is just to help the young girls and to help those who want children. This is why I pray on the babies before I hand them over to the buyers. I make sure the babies are okay.”
Saturday PUNCH asked how she ensured that the babies were okay as she claimed after she had sold them off, Chidozie said, “I just know. Some buyers come back to thank me and even buy cartons of soft drinks for me in appreciation.”
Chidozie said she gave the girls in her ‘baby factory’ ante-natal care in the house where she kept them.
She explained that she had a dedicated nurse who took care of the pregnant girls.
“One day, I met a woman who wore a nurse uniform, I approached her and asked if she could treat my sister. She followed me home and I introduced her to the girls. She later agreed to come and treat them anytime necessary.
“She gave the girls injection anytime they needed treatment. She also supplied their medicines.
“When the girls were due, the nurse delivered them of the babies in my house but when she was not around and a girl was in labour, I would deliver the girl of the baby myself. I can do it because I am a herbal doctor; so I know how to deliver women of babies. I have only personally delivered three girls of their babies.”
Chidozie insisted that she did not force any of the girls into the business. She said they came to her because they did not want their babies.
She claimed she screened the girls before accepting them, adding that she rejected anyone that did not provide satisfactory answers to her questions.
“I asked them where their parents were and who impregnated them. If the girls didn’t give me any good response, I sent them back to where they came from. Even last week I still sent three of them away.”
Asked if she actually asked any of the eight girls who impregnated them, Chidozie struck a thoughtful pose and said, “I can’t remember.”
“But in the past, I have called the boyfriends of pregnant girls in my custody to confirm that they want their babies sold,” she said.
Chidozie became evasive when asked the highest amount she had ever sold a baby.
“I don’t collect much; you know fingers are not equal. Some come to my house begging that they don’t have much. I collect N200,000 from some, even N150,000 from some others. I don’t really know where those who approach me for babies come from.”
Saturday PUNCH asked why she did not direct the girls to proper orphanages if she was not doing it for the money, she said “I don’t know why they prefer me.”
She had told the police upon her arrest that she gave the pregnant girls between N70,000 and N80,000 after their babies were sold off at the rate of N300,000.
Chidozie said her husband knew she was involved in the business in the past but had warned her to stop the business.
The eight girls rescued from Chidozie’s ‘baby factory’ are also in the custody of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit.
Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the AHTCLU had started getting in touch with the families of the girls.
He said, “This is not a careless police command. The girls will help us in the investigation and prosecution of this case. Efforts are ongoing to link the girls with their families. At the moment, we have been able to contact three of the families.
“Investigation has been widened in this case to include potential baby buyers and past buyers who have patronised the woman (Chidozie).”
He said the baby factory was discovered as a result of the persistence of a resident of the area who gave a tip-off on the activities in the house.
The police spokesperson urged the public to give information to the police without fear.
He said, “The man who gave the tip-off actually reported twice. The first time, the police went there and saw nothing. The man reported again and it was discovered that the woman (Chidozie) hid the girls in the wardrobe. One of them actually fainted as a result of that and had to be taken to the hospital.
“We are living in the past. That is why people think that when they give information to the police, it may bounce back on them.
“But members of the public should know who to give information to. They should Approach an officer who heads a formation on any information because such officers can distinguish between rumours and intelligence.

Ekiti: Aggrieved aspirants pick Aluko, reject Fayose
One of the 13 aggrieved governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Senator Gbenga Aluko, emerged the consensus candidate of the party on Friday night.
The Director General of Senator Gbenga Aluko Cakpaign Organisation, Mr. Tunji Olatunde, disclosed this to our correspondent on the telephone late on Friday night.
Aluko’s emergence came seven days after the party conducted a primary election which produced former Governor Ayo Fayose as the governorship candidate.
Olatunde said of all the 13 aspirants who were clamouring for a consensus arrangement to select the flag bearer of the party, former Deputy Governor Bisi Omoyeni was the only one who did not participate in the election of Aluko.
One of the aspirants, Mr. Peter Obafemi, also confirmed that Aluko emerged the winner of the election done among the 12 aspirants.
He said all the 11 aspirants congratulated him and assured him of their support for the June 21 governorship election in the state.
Obafemi said he had hoped to win but was happy because another credible and experienced aspirant won the election and said he was sure Aluko would win the governorship election for the PDP.
Aluko while speaking with our correspondent said the Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State, Mr. Makanjuola Ogundipe supervised the election which produced him ( Aluko) as the consensus candidate of the the party.

British Man Found Dead Near Burning Boat In Caribbean
A British man has been found dead near a burning boat in the Caribbean, prompting a police hunt for his Norwegian partner.
Police in St Vincent told Sky News that 53-year-old John Edward Garner was discovered with head injuries and leg injuries just off the coast of the island after reports a yacht was on fire.
He was travelling with a Norwegian woman, Heidi Hukkelaas, who is believed to have been his partner.
St Vincent police commissioner Michael Charles told Sky News "foul play" was a possibility but added: "At this stage we are certainly looking at all lines of inquiry."
Winston Simmons, who knew Mr Garner and his family, said he believed there had been an accidental explosion on the yacht caused by a gas bottle.
He said Ms Hukkelaas left the island on Tuesday to return to Norway, where the couple lived.
Diver Kay Wilson was one of the first to arrive at the burning yacht.
Mr Garner had permission to say in St Vincent until April 19
She told Sky News the flames had "completely engulfed the vessel" by the time she arrived.
"I was out with a group of divers," she said. "We'd gone out to do a dive trip and one of my crew members saw the smoke on the horizon.
"We made our way over there ... When we reached about a quarter of a mile off we saw a flashing light, which we would normally associate with a life jacket.
"We approached cautiously and we found somebody in the water, with the life jacket around their neck, approximately 150 to 200 feet away from the yacht at the time."
Ms Wilson added Mr Garner had also been spending time on the Grenadines island of Bequia with a family member, dropping them home before planning to travel to Antigua.
Mr Garner's body was found around 15 nautical miles west of Buccament, in the southwest of the island, on Wednesday afternoon.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, in Kingstown.
Initial reports suggested Mr Garner had been found on the vessel itself, reportedly named Asante and registered in Gibraltar.
Mr Charles said Mr Garner and Ms Hukkelaas arrived on the island on January 19 and had secured permission to remain there until April 19.
The Foreign Office told Sky News they were aware of the death of a British national in St Vincent and were providing consular assistance to the family. Source : skynews.com

Beyonce Completes Mrs. Carter World Tour, Breaks Down on Stage
Over the past year or so, Beyonce has given fans a number of memorable moments on tour.
There was that time she sang with a blind audience member in the crowd; that time her hair got stuck in a fan, but it didn't slow her down.
And remember when Jay-Z shocked his wife with a smooch?
So it's only fitting that Queen Bey left us with one more indelible memory before calling an end to the Mrs. Carter World Tour.
On stage in Lisbon for her final of 132 shows this week, Beyonce broke down, telling fans through tears:
"I’m giving y’all an ugly cry…. Thank you for allowing me to have a career. And when I fall, you lift me up. When I’m hungry, you feed me. And I just want to give you my light."
Sorry Nigeria eliminated by Spain
The result ended a seven-match unbeaten run for Nigeria at the tournament dating back to 2012, and fell one match short of the record sequence established by Japan between 2010 and 2012.
Nigeria were favourites coming into the game, but saw their wings clipped by a Spanish side which looked like they had spent more than enough time studying their opponents.
Uchenna Kanu and Aminat Yakubu, Nigeria's biggest threats from wide, were smothered and the Spanish side's intense pressing exploited Nigeria's technical deficiencies.
Guijarron converted from the penalty spot just before the quarter-hour mark after Nigeria’s Ugochi Emenayo tripped Andrea Falcon who was running into the penalty area at speed.
Nahikari Garcia could easily have doubled the margin but she fired over from near the penalty spot after latching onto a ball fired into the penalty area.
Spain’s Laura Dominguez powered in a low shot that was pushed around the near post by Nigeria goalkeeper Onyinyechukwu Okeke who had been by far the busier of the two shot-stoppers.
After the break the silky-skilled Laura Dominguez set up Nahikari Garcia but Onyinyechukwu Okeke diffused a dangerous moment.
Spain doubled their advantage just prior to the hour mark with Laura Dominguez once again setting up Nahikari Garcia this time with a through pass which saw the latter hold off a defender and beats the advancing goalkeeper.
The match went out of sight with 20 minutes remaining as a fierce strike from Sandra Herndandez from a 45 degree angle burst through the hands of Onyinyechukwu Okeke, and Patri Guijarron was there to force the ball home from close range.
Spain will face Italy, who beat Ghana 4-3 on penalties, for a berth in the Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup Final.

Moyes faces press and protest
David Moyes will face the press this afternoon amid reports of a protest calling for him to leave Manchester United.
According to widespread stories in Friday's national newspapers, a group of United supporters has paid for a plane to fly over Old Trafford on Saturday trailing an anti-Moyes message.
The message will reportedly read 'Wrong One: Moyes Out' in answer to 'The Chosen One' banner which continues to fly inside the stadium despite heavy home defeats to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the past month.
Stewards have recently been deployed to guard the banner, which references the fact Moyes was hand-picked for the job by Sir Alex Ferguson.
United are already guaranteed their lowest Premier League points total and host Aston Villa on Saturday in seventh place, 18 points behind leaders Chelsea less than a year after winning the title.
Moyes can expect more criticism if Villa leave with anything, but the visitors' manager Paul Lambert has called the planned plane stunt "extreme".
He said: "I think some of the criticism is way over the top, I really do. If you are talking about flying an aeroplane over the stadium with a message to say you are not wanted, it is a bit extreme.
"I think the magnitude of the job is huge. Only David can truly tell you about that, but from the outside looking in, it is a massive, massive job.
"It is not as if he is standing out there and thinking 'things are not going well, but I still feel good'. He is human like everybody else and when you get that level of criticism it would not be nice."
Moyes' pre-match press conference is scheduled for 1.30pm this afternoon, when he is expected to face questions about the protest and United's poor form

Akon Is No Longer Working With Lady Gaga
Akon claims that Lady Gaga has already reached the peak of her carreer, explaining why he is no longer working with her.
Lady Gaga was signed to the Akon's Kon Live label, however Akon put an end to the deal "before it was too late".
He commented on this in radio show of US DJ Sway: "I got out while the gooding (sic) was hot. It's like a business, you build it to sell it."
"When I got it to the peak of where I felt it couldn't go nowhere, and there was nowhere left to go but down, I cashed out, in other words I sold my share and got out before it was too late."
The radio show DJ also mentioned that the sales of Lady Gaga's new album ARTPOP were not as great as previous albums (though it made it to top 10 charts in over 30 countries). Akon replied to that saying that it was the reason he got out.
What do you think, is Lady Gaga still HOT or NOT?

Selena Gomez: Drinking After Rehab!
Selena Gomez may inspiring fans with her post-rehab clarity, but if a new report is to be believed, Justin Bieber's on-again, off-again flame has been partying harder than ever.
After departing her in-patient program 2 weeks early, Selena was allegedly seen drunkenly stumbling around a post-Oscar party and partying with actor Jared Leto.
Worse, In Touch Weekly witnesses say the 21-year-old singer/actress holed up in a hotel after a fight with her mom and went on a week-long bender.
"She looked like she'd been at it for a while," said one onlooker.
"Her lips were stained from the red wine she was drinking."
Other eye witnesses say that Selena Gomez celebrated St. Patrick's Day by binge drinking and chain smoking in the hotel's restaurant ... scandalous.
"They didn't order food," says one patron at the venue. "They just kept ordering drinks and going out to smoke cigarettes. They definitely seemed drunk."
So what's driving Selena to drink?
You guessed it, her tumultuous relationship with Bieber. "Her family is begging her to get back into rehab and stop talking to Justin," says one anonymous source.
Yeesh. First, we saw Selena Gomez naked on Instagram. Now she's getting hammered in hotels. Ah, Justin. Is there anything you can't screw up?
Player revolt threatens Moyes
Under pressure: David Moyes gives the air of a man with problems as fans file out of Old Trafford on Tuesday night
David Moyes is facing a critical battle for his Manchester United future with squad misgivings over the manager’s tactical approach and training methods threatening to undermine the ongoing backing from the club’s owners, the Glazer family.
With United now having endured eight defeats in 17 games in 2014, the patience shown by the majority of Moyes’s players with his tactics and approach to the job is now at breaking point, as we are aware of the concern of squad members over the inability of the manager to arrest the slump.
Despite Manchester City inflicting on United a third humiliating defeat in the space of a month after a 2-0 Champions League humbling against Olympiakos in Athens and the 3-0 defeat against Liverpool at Old Trafford 11 days ago, senior figures at the club remained unmoved on Wednesday in their support for the 50-year-old.
While there are concerns over recent results and Moyes’s inability to halt a slide which has left United struggling even to qualify for the Europa League, the Glazers and Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman, are understood to be determined to judge the former Everton manager at the end of the season rather than be forced into a decision before the final game of the campaign at Southampton on May 11

The former New Nigeria Bank and Anderlecht of Belgium star dropped the hint while answering questions at the Media Launch of the TomTom Go To Brasil national consumer promo held on Tuesday in Lagos.
When asked to estimate his chances of staying on with the Eagles, should he meet the targets set for him by the Nigeria Football Federation, the Big Boss replied: "It all depends on the new conditions of my employers, the NFF, put on the table. It depends on what I see after the event, if the conditions are right, I will continue my job.
"The end of the World Cup will bring an end to a cycle and both myself and the NFF will sit down and discuss. I am a professional, and I have a family to feed so I need to keep working.
"However, if the situation is otherwise, and we don't agree, I may reconsider. I will not take my decision based on sentiments."
